Thanks both. I am currently looking at my options as I do not have any drivers for the printer and, well, I am a mite chary of disabling everything on the way to solving aproblem for a 15-year old printer!

    Maybe that time has come....

    Thanks all.

Try using "Browse my computer" and "Let me pick from a list..." in device manager. When Windows updates a driver, it doesn't delete the old one.

Two things to try to try and clear the "Printer currently in use" (so you can delete the driver):

First open Services > find Print Spooler service in list > right click > and Stop the service.
After it stops, then Restart the service.
Now see if you can remove the printer driver.

Another thing I saw on the web is to disable "Bidirectional Support" for the printer port, then test.
I assume that if this exists you would find it in Printer Server Properties under the Ports Tab > port for your printer > Configure Port Settings.
It does not exist on my machine.

I'm having this same issue with my Epson PP-100N on two machines that have received the 1803 update. I was able to roll back the update on one of the two machines, and that got the printer working again. The other machine can't be rolled back. I take it this issue hasn't been resolved yet? I reported the issue to Epson on May 5th, and they thanked me for my input, but offered no solution.

I am sorry to say that I have nothing to help you. I brought in a friend who works 'in the business' and he tried all sorts of things without success. Then, after quite a while, I could suddenly print again. I don't know just what he did and nor does he!

MS, updates and drivers just do not go together from my experience!

Download and reinstall the driver software on the problem computer.
