    Hi @Toruk,

    Glad you are back. I have seen your post. Give me sometime to refresh on this thread and I will be back in a few hours with further instructions.

    As told earlier you can close TestDisk anytime by clicking on the X in the top right of the title bar. While you run it again, make sure you follow the same steps to reach the screen you had posted and the correct 3000GB disk is shown in the first line of the screenshot.

    @Toruk ,here we go.

    1. Does your 2TB external disk ( hereinafter called Destination disk) have enough space to copy all your files on your 3TB disk ( hereinafter called Source disk) ? ( Your 3TB disk is now an internally connected disk)

    2. Have you created a folder named Recovery in your 2TB Destination disk ?

    3. Have you plugged in only your 2TB Destination disk ? ( Remove all other USB plugged storage devices)

    Run Test Disk. ( You will be using the up/down, Left/Right arrow keys to move in the TestDisk Window}

    First screen: Highlight/select [No log] Press Enter Key

    Second Screen: Does this screen show 1. your internal 500 GB System Disk 2. your 3TB Source disk and 3. the 2TB Destination Disk? Note down the drive letter of your 2TB Destination Disk.

    Highlight/select your 3TB Source disk. ( Select Disk and not the drive/s shown with drive letters below the disks..)

    [Proceed] is already highlighted. Press enter

    Third Screen: [Intel] Enter

    Fourth Screen: Highlight [Geometry] and press Enter.

    OK, you had now posted the screenshot of the fifth screen in your last post #20.

    Shall continue after a short break. Do not respond till I complete this writeup.

    Continuing .....

    Note: The disk I am using for the screenshots is 750GB. Your source disk should show as 3000GB with sector size = 512 which we will be changing to 4096.

    On the fifth screen you posted

    External HDD visable but suddenly gone unreadable-a01-06-2018-08-01-47.jpgExternal HDD visable but suddenly gone unreadable-b01-06-2018-08-44-49.jpgExternal HDD visable but suddenly gone unreadable-c01-06-2018-09-03-49.jpgExternal HDD visable but suddenly gone unreadable-d01-06-2018-09-44-15.jpgExternal HDD visable but suddenly gone unreadable-e01-06-2018-11-19-37.jpgExternal HDD visable but suddenly gone unreadable-f01-06-2018-11-05-25.jpg

    If your only partition is shown and you get " Structure OK, blah ...blah....", highlight that partition and press P (Shift+ P ) (Capital P) to list the files. Post a screenshot.

    If your files are listed, you can select those and copy to your 2TB Destination disk into the Recovery folder .
    If that drive letter is say I: then your destination to copy the files will be Directory I: \ Recovery ( Replace I with the actual drive letter of your 2TB Destination drive you noted in the second screen)

    How to copy files listed by TestDisk:

    Please read my post #28 here https://www.sevenforums.com/hardware...ml#post2395385
    (Note:Screenshot 5 onwards where the files are listed applies here. Ignore the first four screenshots in that post.)

    At any point during the recovery process, if you have any doubts, post a screenshot and ask for clarification.

    Most probably you have missed something. You are on the root directory of some disk which I cannot decipher.

    Please rerun TestDisk and post the sixth, seventh and eighth screen showing that the sector size has been changed.

    ( When each screen is displayed, take the screenshot before pressing Enter to go to the next screen.)

    Thereafter we shall go screen by screen.

    I will be online for another three hours. Let us see whether we can finish it.

    You are very fast I just didn't expect.

    OK, that looks fine. the screenshot shows your single partition which is already highlighted. When on this screen just press (Shift +P) and then show the next screen. ( There is no need to press Enter or any arrow key or any other key)

    I will also go for my last walk of the day to complete my 8700 steps/day schedule and return.

    hmmm.... that is very strange.

    Please do this. From the beginning I had noted that you are using the beta version of TestDisk 7.1. Is it doing this?

    Let us eliminate that. Close TestDisk. Delete the TestDisk folder. Download version 7.0 and extract it. ( See my post #12 here Hard Drive seems corrupt. 1 Partition now showing as 3 Partitions? Solved - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums)

    Run TestDisk 7.0 and then post what you get after pressing Shift +P. Does it list the files?

    Post the screenshot and I shall see it tomorrow morning or whenever you post it.
