Hey Steve. Well I kind of spent the last 10 days telling Ryan anything I could think to try and have run out of idea's other than him being so unlucky that he got 2 duff boards in a row. I hope it isn't that but can't think of anything else to try. I figured it would be a good idea to post about all the issues on here in case anyone else have any ideas.
That's good then, at least you don't have to keep removing stuff now then lol but not exactly a good solution having to do that every time you turn the PC on!
God knows chap, I still think it has to do with the gpu some how and hoping the new one will sort it but probably not lol. Totally out of idea's.
Edit: While searching for solutions online I've come across threads where people are having the same issue but the other way around. They upgraded to a 1080ti on an older platform and it wouldn't cold boot but when they upgraded the cpu/mob and ram everything was fine
Ryan have you done the DDU thing with drivers and installed new GPU Drivers?
Ram and Motherboards can be incompatible.
I would certainly try another PSU before giving up. It has worked before.
Have you tried a cold boot but before booting, turn the switch off on the back of the power supply then hold down the start button on the case and drain all the power out of the Motherboard. Then turn the PSU switch back on and try it?
Yeah I've done the DDU thing and clean install of drivers. I don't have any other ram to try and yeah I suppose I'll have to try the Mrs's psu at some point so I'll do that if I still have the same issue with a 1080ti.
Yup! I've also tried turning off the psu and draining all power as well as a suggested turn off the psu and hit the power button 3 times before turning the psu back on.
No mate this one and the one before have done the same from the get go.
I doubt I could return this board as I bought it through Littlewoods(a catalogue company) and have already returned one which was a pain in the rear.
I can live with it as is it's just annoying that I can't suss it out lol.

Ryan, in the FWIW department, a couple years ago I built an X99 rig with an EVGA 1050W Supernova. It wouldn't start unless I turned it off, drained the power from the board and turned it back on. It was getting worse and worse. I RMA'd the PSU to EVGA on an advanced RMA. The new one did the same thing. EVGA said they tested the PSU I rerturned and ther was nothing wrong with it. So, I drug a 1050W Seasonic I had and wired it up. The X99 fired right up and hasn't missed a beat since.
So, it must be a bad PSU right? 6 months or so ago I built this 8700K rig and just for the heck of it, I put the "bad" EVGA PSU in it. It booted the first try and hasn't missed a beat since. So, some weird things can go on with some of these electronics components. I still say there are gremlins in them.
