    two drives in File Explorer

I hope I filed this problem in the right forum.
I installed a new external drive for backup.
It appears twice in file explorer but one seems to be under c: and the other is further to the left and in the column like network would appear. both have the same data in them and I am guessing taking up twice the space.
is there a way to get rid of one of them.

    Hello Shipinomore, :)

This would be the same drive.

By default, removable drives are listed once under the "This PC" group in the navigation pane, and listed again as it's own separate group in the navigation pane. This can be helpful if you don't have "This PC" expanded open.

The tutorial below can show you how to remove the separate groups of drives from the navigation pane.

If you look carefully at the indents you'll see that the C: drive and the F: drive are actually at the same level in the hierarchy, listed under 'This PC', which itself is listed under Desktop. External drives are also listed under Desktop, hence F: appears twice. If you click the 'collapse/expand' arrow to the left of 'This PC' or 'Desktop' you'll see clearer how the hierarchical structure is laid out.

It's just two alternative pointers to the same place, no extra storage is in use. Brink's tutorial can help you tidy up the view, if you like.
