USB Camera + Microphone not working after Windows 10 Update

Yesterday I got an update from Windows 10. I waited 1-2 hours for it to finish but after the update I have problems with my USB Camera and Microphone. The devices are connected and I can see them listed as USB 2.0 MIC but they are not working. I tried the hardware on a laptop with Windows 7 and it works. I tried uninstalling the drivers and rebooting and installing the drivers again, but it didn't help.

When I click on the microphone settings and I check the box "listen to this device", I can hear my voice through the speakers. It seems the problem is the software changes after the update.

After the update Windows 10 asked me questions about data collection and speech recognition. I clicked the 2nd response (which is negative - not to use any speech recognition and data collection). Could this have broken the USB Camera + Microphone?

Any idea how to fix this stupid Windows 10 problem?

I would focus on the camera, since the microphone seems to be working. My camera shows up in Device Manager under "Imaging Devices". You may have to click "View", "Show hidden devices" to see this. Right-click the camera in Device Manager, select "Update driver", "Browse my computer for driver software", then "Let me pick from a list of available drivers". If one is found, install it. You may have to restart the computer for the change to take effect.

Pretty well-documented and general issues with USB-attached device issues with 1803 are showing up here at TenForums and in other high-volume Win10 support/info sites (answers.microsoft.com, social.microsoft.com and superuser.com, to name just a few). This usually means finding (or updating) related device drivers, as @Ben Myers has observed. I've also found WUMT (the Windows Update MiniTool: here's a link to a short review/overview I wrote about it lately: Toolkit Item: Windows Update MiniTool (WUMT) Win10.Guru) to be pretty good at ferreting out drivers. You might want to run it and see if it comes up with anything.

Thank you @EdTittel and @Ben Myers for the replies. The problem wasn't with the driver, but with the microphone privacy settings of Windows 10 Update 1803. Here is the solution I found online:

Hit Windows key and search for "microphone privacy settings"
Hit "Allow access to the microphone on this device"
Switch "Allow apps to access your microphone" to
    on
When you update Windows 10, it asks you to give permissions for data collection and microphone use. If you disallow the ability of the microphone to be used by apps (like Cortana), then the device is DISABLED from other apps for eternity as well. Turning it back on from the privacy settings fixed my issue.
