Bluetooth headset won't reconnect since april update

    Hello,

I own a pair of Jaybird X2 bluetooth headphones that i connect using an Asus Bluetooth adapter.
Since the April creator's update, i am unable to reconnect the headphones simply by turning them on. Once i turn them off, they are gone for good. They still do appear as connected in the bluetooth devices list but wont appear in the list of audio device, even if i turn on disabled devices display.
The only way to get them to work again is by deleting them, then going through the pairing process again, which is tedious.
The headphones have at most 8hrs of battery life and turn off when i plug them, so i can't leave them on all the time as a temporary fix.
Does anybody have an idea on how to fix this ?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issue. Ever since the 2018 April update.

Yep, there's something wrong with the BT audio subsystem in SCU (1803). My 2 perfectly working headsets can only connect and stay connected 1 time out of 10 tries. On SCU (1709) I did not have such issues.

When I connect the headsets to my Android device, I can even enable dual audio and listen to music via both headsets at the same time without any issues. The connection gets established really fast too.

Me and many others has reported this to MS via Feedback Hub. I suggest you do the same. :)

Hopefully we get a fix soon.

It seems there many issues with Hardware.
On my small Laptop, just Switching BT On/Off makes the Display Flicker.
I have connections issues with Wi-Fi, it is not willing to connect, I have to try a lot of times.
In 1709 I have no problems at all, so I went back to 1709 and will stay with it until MS delivers a reliable Version of W10.

Very helpful and informative article @DtSodium. Thanks for sharing. I need to dig more deeply into this. Didn't realize MS had changed so much BT stuff in its generic stack. May be smarter to use MS software than vendor software until the vendors catch up. How often does THAT happen? Hardly ever!
