Possible Cause for Bluetooth Mouse Lag

I have a Logitech Anywhere 2S mouse connected to my Dell's built-in Bluetooth.

Every so often (I can't recall exact frequency, but maybe 5 or 6 times in a 12-hour period), the mouse will become unresponsive for about 10 seconds while I'm using it. I have to move the mouse around like crazy to get it to start registering.

I've made sure that the driver's power options are unchecked for allowing the computer to disable the device to save power. All drivers are up-to-date.

At this point I'm not sure if it's an issue with the mouse or the computer and I'm wondering if there is a way to figure it out.

It has a rechargeable battery. I just charged it 2-3 days ago and Logitech Options is reporting that the battery is full. I usually charge it fairly frequently (once/week or so).

Sensor is clean and the surface area is clean (the hospital cleans it frequently). I do not use a mouse pad though.

The mouse responds fairly quickly with exception to the periods of time that occur around 5 times/day.

I think (hopefully) I have figured this out.

In device manager, under human interface devices, there is a "Logitech Download Assistant" there. Not sure what it does. I disabled it and so far I've had absolutely no issues with disconnections over the past 90 minutes or so. Usually this would occur every 10 minutes or so.

Here's hoping it fixed it.

Does anyone know what the download assistant actually does and why it's in the device manager?

That didn't solve it, and it happens with 2 different mice (same model). These are new (<6 months old).

There are 4 things you might need to consider :

1 - bluetooth is a wireless protocol and wireless connections often get interference and blutooth is a slow protocol so minimal interference can have great effect on it . i used to have a chinese replica phone that would unpair all blutooth connections on my original samsung note 5 on running its bluetooth , i came to understand later that they do not assign a mac address to cheap clone phones so all their broadcasts can mix up any other running broadcasts .

2 - manufacturers have different policies handling clogs where they set different priorities and bandwidths to connected devices when device usage edges (disk activity is at 100% or cpu usage is at 100%) your issue might simply be your computer got busy so it disconnected your bluetooth for the time being (that can be checked by hitting ctrl+alt+del when symptoms happen again)

3 - updating your bluetooth adapter driver may solve alot of issues regarding energy management / priorities , you can even try the generic vanilla driver microsoft provides and see if it works better .

4 - stuttering hardware is the new trend to replace dead hardware , apparently new hardware dont just die on you , they just stutter first , yes your device is new but who knows if the maker is good enough or it wasnt shelved for ages .

I had resorted to using the WiFi dongle that came with the mouse because the lags were so annoying.

However, I noted in the update log for Cumulative Update KB43440917 Windows 10 v1803 Build 17134.191 - July 24 that a QoS issue with Bluetooth devices was fixed. So I decided to give it a try. Removed the dongle, and switched back to Bluetooth.

I can finally say that the lag issue has resolved! Yay!
