    Touchscreen won't work.

Hey all, I hope you can help me on this considering the Microsoft chat is taking forever.

I just bought a HP Stream x360 yesterday and upgraded it to Windows 10, the issue is that the touchscreen will no longer work. It worked with 8.1 but not with 10. I have checked with Windows Update and installed all of the updates. I have also checked with the HP driver support to see if any needed to be installed and it said none (if I did it right). Any thoughts on how to fix it?

    Thanks a ton guys.

I made an account on here just to answer this for you cause I was having the same problems and I know how frustrating it can be to not get an answer when you need one. This worked for me and I have a Dell Touchscreen Laptop. Hopefully it works for you.

Open your Start menu, and type in Device Manager to search for it. Click on it in the results to open it. Click on the arrow next to Human Interface Devices to open up the drop down menu for it. Then find and right click HID-compliant touch screen. Click Disable. It will ask if you want to disable it because it may stop working - click Yes. Then right click again and click Enable, or Re-enable.

It should start working again once you do this. It did for me. If not, hopefully you can find something else that works. Good luck!

Hi, did you get your touchscreen fixed? I have the self-same problem. After upgrading from W8.1 to W10, the touchscreen on my HP Touchsmart 14 notebook no longer works. I tried the fix suggested by Tallytal but no success with that. Anyone - please help!

Has the "touch screen issues" matter been solved, please, eg in any other Win10 or Windows thread, or in forums for specific computers? It would be wonderful to know how common this is with different makes of computer. (Mine is a Lenovo and there are ten forums with titles like "Touch screen problems" or whatever - there may be more as the search function always lists no more than ten hits.)

Forums are wonderful, but a situation like this may be being solved in any one of hundreds of contexts we'll never hear of!!

    All the best - Eric

Have a look at HP's download site. Download latest driver for touchscreen, if any. It doesn't have to be for Windows 10. Windows 8 or 7 should also work. Install it and see if you get it fixed. Even if you already have the same version installed, sometimes just uninstalling and reinstalling helps.

Glad to see these posts so current.

I created an account just to post in this thread, as I too am having the EXACT same issue with the same unit (HP Stream x360)

I installed windows 10. All drivers are installed, updated and current.

Under Human Interface devices THERE IS NO "
    HID-compliant touch screen" listed.

I have perused the internet for solutions, and nothing is working. I have 10+ years exp in installing hardware, and I am about to rip my hair out on this one.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. User forums like this are almost always more helpful than a manufactures (not going to even bother posting on HP, would be a waste of time)

Is there any touchscreen related driver or program in HP download site? Even if it doesn't appear as a device in Device Manager, try to install it and see if it works. To make sure it has the necessary access permissions, right-click the setup and Run as Administrator.

Nope, cant find a single one. Looked at the driver download for every single HP windows tablet model that I can find on their site and all they have (for some of them) is the general intel HD video drivers.

UPDATE: got it to work. This solution worked:
touch screen on stream 11 x360 not working after windows 10... - HP Support Forum - 5188892
"I installed the windows 8.1 version of "Intel Serial IO Driver without Connected Standby Support""

    Hallefreakinglujah. HP/Microsoft should fix this.

Edit: the name of the HP driver setup file is "sp69279.exe"

Hi - sorry to take so long to respond - been tearing my hair out almost continuously with a worsening touch screen failure situation with a Lenovo laptop with Win 10. Often the touch screen action fails within five or ten minutes of switch on, quite often with touch pad cursor control failing too.

I know this thread started with an HP machine - but the responses seem to be hardware independent. Is it possible that touch screen drivers are the same for all touch screens, even being part of Windows (10 in my case)?

And I have tried the disable/enable even uninstall / reinstall routes without success!

    Cheers - Eric
