USB headset not working after April update

I have a sades spirit wolf 7.1 headset and since the recent feature update it doesn't work at all when plugged in, as audio just continues out of my speakers. I've uinstalled and re-installed all related devices and drivers with no solution in sight. Before I would just plug it in and audio would automatically switch to the headset, so I am just at a loss with what is going on.

Thanks for any help in advanced

Plug it in, then right-click the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the screen, select "Playback Devices" and make sure it is showing up and is not disabled. If it looks OK or is not even showing up, go to Device Manager, expand "Sound, video and game controllers", right-click the sound device, click "Update driver", "Browse my computer for driver software", then "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer". If one is found, install it. You may have to restart the computer for the change to take effect.

This appears to have done the trick, updating device driver through device manager. Unplugged and plugged back in and audio goes through the headset like it should.

    Thank you

I have stumbled across the solution and my microphone is now working properly. The problem I found is in settings. I was given the hint that Cortana may be causing the problem so I looked to turn Cortana off only to find a toggle to turn the microphone on /off for all applications was set off. I turned this on, and selected the apps I wanted to turn off and immediately microphone started working. problem solved.
