First...I appreciate folks making an attempt to help. Per above, the hardware ID is listed as:

    BTH\MS_BTHL2CAP

When looked up in Google it is referenced as "Microsoft Bluetooth Protocol Support." I'm not at home at the moment put someone with the identical issue posted a screenshot here: Unknown device pops up in Device Manager when Bluetooth is turned on - Windows 10 Forums

I had 2 unknown devices show up in Device Manager to which it could not find drivers. I uninstalled them in device manager, rebooted the system and the unknown devices never came back nor was there any problem afterwards.

djdelarosa25...out of curiosity, what machine are you having the problem on...mine is a Dell XPS 13...maybe it is a device-specific bug?
I'm also using a Dell, an Inspiron 14 7447. Perhaps it is related to the OEM (but if it is, then a reinstall of the Intel Bluetooth drivers should have fixed this).

Having drivers for older devices can be problematic, I'm now on a Dell Vostro 1510 and it has the Bluetooth marking on the keyboard cover but won't activate. Most times the Bluetooth is part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter and can fail without taking the Wi-Fi out. The Wi-Fi can work without the Bluetooth but not the other way around. I had come into possession of a generic Bluetooth USB dongle, about the same small size of a wireless mouse, and because I like to use Bluetooth mice I plugged it in and Win10 picked it up and installed drivers.

The only other hardware I haven't had luck with on a Notebook is trying to get drivers for an Express Card, similar to a PCMCIA card, but I just Disable it in Device Manager and go on.

    mccnavy,

This is the driver displayed on the Dell website:
    Intel 3160 7260 3165 7265 8260 8265 Bluetooth Driver | Dell US

If that works you are set.
If it fails then run the log collector and post a zip into this thread:

    (extract > open)
In case there are any problems running the beta log collector use the text and images in this thread: (post #5)

This is a driver supplied by Windows 10. I have a Dell XPS 9550 and have not yet upgraded to v1803. My driver shows Microsoft as the provider and the version is 10.0.16299.15 which is for v1709 (the version I now have). It looks like v1803 has messed something up.

    Why u search for drivers?
The missing BTH\MS_BTHL2CAP is the built in stack driver from windows 10.(L2CAP implements the Bluetooth logical link control and adaptation protocol. )
    This is definitely a bug.
I have a same with one of 4 machines.
For now i will leave it because the few Bluetooth functions works ok that i tested.
If u want to try to resolve it , u can try an in place upgrade.

johnpd...you're right and that is how I was conducting my online searches...to try to find that Windows 10 MS-supplied driver. It doesn't appear that there is a site where someone has made it available for situations like this.

boombastik...I had to search for drivers because they are no longer on my machine. According to johnpd, he still sees them on his 1709 version of Windows 10. I don't see them on any of my 3 Windows 10 machines which is why I hoped that there was a repository online. Only the one laptop, apparently has the BT adapter that wants it.
