Windows 10 version 1803 and found I have no audio. Using IDT HD Audio

    Hello All :),
I just updated to Windows 10 version 1803 and found I have no audio.
Apparently IDT High Definition Audio CODEC has not been updated for v.1803 - I've downloaded and installed the latest with no luck. And ran all the troubleshooting suggestions I could find.
    -
I surely don't want to roll back to the previous version of Win10 .
Hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

See if one of these troubleshooting steps can fix the problems with the IDT CODEC:

    1) right click on the left lower corner windows icon > left click device manager
    2) left click view > left click show hidden devices > expand each: audio inputs and outputs and sound video and game controllers

    3) Under audio inputs and outputs these may or may not be listed:
    a) Communication Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)
    b) Headset Mic (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)
    c) Internal Microphone Array (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)
    d) Line In (IDT High Definition Audio Codec)
    e) Speakers / HP (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)

    4) Under Sound, video and game controllers these may or may not be listed:
    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

    5) Start with the section for Sound, video and game controllers: Right click on the row > left click driver > see if there is a left click option to roll back driver or whether it is grey > if you can roll back the driver > then roll back > report into the thread the results

    6) If there are no options to roll back the driver then download these drivers to the desktop:

    a) HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support

    b) HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support

    c) HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support

    7) Using trial error perform these steps:
Start in the Sound, video, and game controllers:
    a) right click on the IDT High Definition CODEC > left click properties > left click on the driver tab > left click update driver > left click browse my computer for driver software > click on the applicable desktop driver
    b) try each of the 3 different HP IDT High Definition CODEC drivers

Thanks for your detailed reply zbook,

    1) Neither the IDT nor all the Microsoft items offer the rollback option (they are grey).

    2) Part of my earlier troubleshooting was to update NVIDIA, so even though all of those items offer rollback, I'm guessing I would simply be restoring the previous NVIDIA state which didn't work. I passed on trying that.

    3) I downloaded the 3 drivers and followed the steps to update my IDT High Definition CODEC; they are not recognized as drivers (all are .exe files) and I have a message that says there are no drives in that directory.

Rather than running the the .exe files, I'll wait to learn your next suggestion.
    Thanks again! :)

    Hi zbook,
HP.com led me to this statement: "HP does not provide Windows 10 drivers on HP.com for HP computers sold prior to August 2013. Microsoft has made most of the component drivers for these products available via Device Manager once the product is running Windows 10 with an active Internet connection. To see if your HP computer was tested to work in Windows 10, go to HP Products Tested with Windows 10." =>>"HP Products Tested with Windows 10
The information below lists HP products that have been tested with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709)."

I stopped there to report to you.
    -
Out of time now, will run the DM report for you in the morning.
I have <dm_log_collector.exe> Dated 5/10/2016 in my archive. Can I use this or should I follow your directions for the latest one?

If you had working audio with IDT high definition audio CODEC prior to the most recent upgrade from 1709 > 1803 there are troubleshooting options. Once there is information on the HP computer, and the working environment, using trial and error the drivers will be uninstalled and installed to find a working driver.

    There are 2 log collectors.
If possible please run the beta log collector and post a zip into the thread.
The beta log collector will collect more useful files than the DM log collector and at some point in time will replace it.
The latest files will be most useful in assessing the computer environment.

It's one or the other; not sure how to confirm "1000" or "1100"
Neither one offers Windows 10 for the OS

See what result you get when only entering the product number.
And see what result you get when only entering the serial number.
    Are they same?
The system model information in the logs: System Model: h9-1110t

Please confirm this result: HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support

The operating systems that are offered are HP tested with the hardware.
If the operating system is not displayed then it has not been tested.
In that case choose the latest operating system > post a URL or hyperlink into the thread.
