Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) install fails

when i run the install program setuprst.exe (v16.0.2.1086) i get an error message "This platform is not supported" and then no option but to click OK to abort. i've had RST installed before using the last release version. My BIOS mode is set to AHCI and not RAID. i changed it to RAID and tried to install again but still got the same error. I was thinking maybe i have to install Windows when its set to RAID and the only solution is to install Windows when the BIOS is set to RAID?

not sure i want to have RST installed now though as if it only work in RAID mode i believe Samsung Magician won't work as i read it only works in AHCI mode..

What motherboard do you have?

Ok, you can't install version 16.0.2.1086, because version 15 and 16 only support on 100 chipset series and above.
Latest version for your board is 14.
Download IRST.

in Device Manager its showing C216 chipset. so v15 and above require C230 then.

failed again with same error. i think i need to install .NET framework 3.5?

i installed the .NET 3.5 framework from the DVD using this command:
Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:g:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess
then ran setuprst.exe (14.8.16.1063) and it still aborts with the same message "This platform is not supported".

when i change BIOS mode from AHCI to RAID it won't reboot. only reboots when its set to AHCI.
