    Unsteady Mouse pointer

I use a five year old ASUS laptop with touchpad. The CPU is AMD A8-4500M. Of late the pointer is never steady & often moves to a spot different from the one intended while clicking on the touchpad. I've tried tweaking the Pointer scrolling speed at Settings without any improvement. Any solutions?

    Hi layman.

When you go into Settings => Devices => Mouse => Additional Mouse setting (on Right) your Touchpad should be a tab. There should also be a Settings button.

Is this where you are making the changes you mentioned?

The touchpad has a whole group of settings like speed, inertia. The driver may have a additional setting like Palm check, Momentum, etc.

You might also find installing an older driver makes things better. Likely can get from Asus setup page. If you install an older driver you need to tell Windows to lay off updates. Option 4 this tutorial.

Yes, I had adjusted the Pointer speed there. The Touchpad Settings have only option to adjust Sensitivity. It is set at "Medium Sensitivity" (Default). The Touchpad Properties show- "This device is functioning properly".

Which Asus laptop do you have please.

Just checking my wife's Asus, 4 years old, it has Asus Smart Gesture. Wanted to see what yours came with.

ASUS Model No K55N-DS81. I don't know whether it provides "Smart Gesture" or not.

Sorry not to challenge but can't find that model on Asus.

If there is a tag under laptop could you take numbers from there.

Some stickers are inside battery compartments for those models with removal battery.

Closest I could get was K550.

    Thanks
