    Just re-read your first post- noted you said you had tried re-installing Windows. Maybe what was reporting was finding something suggesting iTunes/Gear should be installed (but it never had been).

    I find that deleteing any upper and lower filters pertaining to Optical Drives is easy using ImgBurn.........Imgburn is still a great burning package......

    You might find the information on deleting those filters here........

    Note; once you have the drive recognized within Windows you might have to reinstall whatever burning software you use again.....
