Is my 2TB USB 3.0 external portable drive too slow?

    @PolarNettles
    I tried the test (1GB) and the result was 90.18 and 93.74 MB/s for Read and Write respectively.

    My hard drive is indeed a Toshiba 1TB disk. This is where I keep my data on. My C drive is a Samsung SSD 850 Pro 250 GB (if that is important).

    Looks like you're perfectly fine then. Copying a bunch of small files will be slower than copying one giant file like the benchmark does.

    Unfortunately I would say that the test is not truly conclusive. I copied about 4GB of files ranging from just below 1 GB each to just over 1 GB, but the speed was slow again.

    However, based on testing another portable drive that I have the speed was around 90 MB/s. The difference between the two drives is that the fast one has write caching enabled. I'll enable write caching on the slow drive and see if there's a improvement.

    EDIT: I enabled write caching on the device and the speed based on an actual transfer of about 4 GB was 90 MB/s.
