Help with hard disk "corruption"
Six months ago I built a new system using ADATA PCIe 128GB NVMe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 SSD. Windows 10 Pro. No problems at all, use the PC to record cable tv (separate drive).
Been using Paragon Backup Restore 16 to do weekly backups on the C drive. Working great for 20+ weeks. Until yesterday, process gets to 99% then says "unable to read from source disk". Paragon support says the C drive has corruption, recommended chkdsk /f /r, which I did and it found no errors. I also tried ADATA's own software test tool and it also reports nothing wrong. So I went to C drive > properties > tools > error checking- it found errors and successfully corrected them. But running Paragon backup- it again gets to 99% then says "unable to read from source disk". Next, I purchased Hard Disk Sentinel Pro and did a surface scan which finds CRC errors and bad clusters, but says it repaired them and disk is 100% healthy. I have run HDS surface scan 3 times and it keeps finding/repairing the same things over and over. Lastly, I tried DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth then sfc /scannow. That found and successfully repaired quite a lot of stuff. But again - running Paragon backup it again gets to 99% then says "unable to read from source disk". And HDS surface scan still finds the exact same bad stuff.
Meanwhile the PC runs fine, records tv shows perfectly, never fails to boot, never fails a windows update, etc... I just can't take a backup anymore!
I can provide more details/logs and try more things. If someone can make suggestions.
