They are probably the only ones who can help. My Granddaughter has one. She says there is no way to do it without Apple. Trust me, if there was a way, she would know it.

A similar thing happened a few years ago when the FBI ordered Apple to unlock the iPhone of the San Bernardino terrorist. Apple refused. There was at that time a way to work around the lock and the FBI was able to figure it out for themselves. Apple immediately closed that method with a firmware update. So far, there is no way I know of to get in it, without the possible help of Apple.

    Hi,
Pretty tough to forget a 4 number password :/
Although the newer updates wanted a person to do more like finger print...
I just removed the password and leave it open meaning no password.

I still think Recovery Mode is there. You loose everything which the FBI wanted to avoid and the FBI didn't want to trip the 10 entries, erase phone trip wire.

All my Apple devices are set to 10 tries, erase everything.

Passwords are not restricted to four digits, mine are six and you can set eight I think.

I did see another article where they stated 42 characters. Regardless an iOS passcode can be quite complex.

Can you imagine entering this and you need to enter it. Every so often the device forces you to enter.

Not sure I would have a phone with no password with all the sites it auto logins into and all the personal information I carry. Still six characters with the auto erase enabled makes me comfortable. ( That and four fingers loaded for fingerprints to make unlock painless.)

    Hi,
No password is only a problem if one looses the phone
