iPad wont show up in file explorer

Do iOS devices ever show up in explorer? My recollection is that those devices don't have standard file systems and can't be mounted in Windows as such. iTunes and some third party apps allow limited file sharing but not through the OS file system unless I'm mis-remembering.

Do you get the "Allow this device to access photos and videos" message on the iPad when you plug in the USB?


1. Connect your iPad to USB.
2. Run UsbTreeView from USB Device Tree Viewer and see if the iPad is detected. Click on the entry. Note that the program might freeze for a minute when the iPad is connected for some reason - just wait for it to finish.

3. Reply with the "Device information" contents.

I decided to install TunesGo on a VM just to confirm my previous suspicion that it was overwriting the Windows MTP driver. And it looks like it does.

In Device Manager, do you see this device?


If so, right-click and uninstall it.

Hi! By now you probably found a fix. I had the same problem with my new Win10 PC until I changed cords. Instead of using the power cord that comes with the iPad, I tried changing to using the power cord that came with my iPhone or old iPod. Suddenly, I could see the iPad in Windows File Explorer and I got the notification that new hardware was plugged into my PC. Now I can see my iPad files from my PC>

This was a free trial because i didnt want to pay 60 pounds, and now the free trial is over i couldnt uninstall it. I had to manually find its' files because it had hidden itself and stuff, and now that I've removed it the iPad doesnt show up in file explorer anymore. My guess is the program changed the setting that allows that so I'd have to pay them to keep syncing, but i dont know how to enable that feature again. Can someone tell me how, please?
