I won't post a list of similar issues and problems between Logitech and Windows 10, so I am going to ask if anyone knows of no-name brands of keyboard and mice. My preference is the simple basic keyboard like the K270 and a simple basic mouse.

I owned numerous models of higher end Logitech keyboards and mice. But, I settled on the K270 because they lasted the longest, (owned 6+ over the years) - being a poor typist and hard on keyboards.
I searched around, and kept getting pointed back to the K270, and it's associated mouse. Seems to be the workhorse bang-for-the-buck deal. Only downside they say is you need 2 dongles, not 1, because it is not a Unifying combo.

I am not concerned about unifying. Just mentioned it because I owned so many of them. On the other hand, I take them apart when they don't work properly, and to my surprise, the insides of older and newer versions are not interchangeable. There were a lot of design changes to reduce production costs which also made repair difficult if not impossible.
With this Windows 10 version, the Logitech keyboard & mouse problem begins in the BIOS. The mouse jumps around when I open the BIOS to look at the settings, and the keyboard takes forever to react. This behaviour is in Windows and the apps as well.

I switched to an old VicTsing keyboard and mouse and the problem went away and everything is normal.

Glad you're fixed and found a usable KB and mouse.

If you don't install the Logitech software ( and hence drivers) you usually just end up with generic Microsoft Drivers instead , I don't use the Steel Series Software for my keyboard for example...

    KB.

I neglected to mention that prior to uninstalling the three Logitech apps, I saw the mess it made in the BIOS USB page. It indicated three keyboards and two mice.

I uninstalled everything related to Logitech, deleted the keyboard and mouse drivers in the device manager and rebooted manually. With the generic W10 drivers, the Logitech keyboard and mouse do not work well when navigating among the BIOS settings. The generic drivers never gave any problems with any input device.

I started buying their products when they were manufactured in Switzerland and was willing to pay the premium. But not anymore. Their quality and innovation has fallen way behind.
Also, the article The 12 Best Wireless Keyboards of 2020: Reviews, Photos, Pricing | SPY is wrong. The writer didn't exercise due diligence. The K270 uses 2 x AAA batteries (and not 2 x AA). The mouse battery is a single AA.

Just an update: I don't have a feeling that I'm getting anywhere with Logitech Support on this.

    Latest Logitech SetPoint Software

Actually, as a matter of fact I have a feeling I'm talking to bots all the time (Use Safe Mode, Reinstall SetPoint etc.).

But I am enjoying it nevertheless!

When the Bot tells you to run SFC /scannow, you'll know it transferred your ticket to Walter in India, and a new Bot will be happy to assist you with your issue.

    Ha!

Now, is it just me or this issue has suddenly gone to sleep (and on its own, obviously, again)? Could somebody check & confirm?

My three devices are now fine and simply report Logitech software is up to date - and only when prompted to check for updates.

It literally has changed overnight - after I responded back to the latest e-mail from Logitech Support (but this time it was signed by somebody with the name actually, as opposed to bland Logitech Support before).
