    Not Supposed to lose any data but you can use Macrium to Image the Drive 1st. The new 4xxxx Series FW is for 960 Pro drives currently as far as I am aware. If you have the 960EVO it maybe the 3xxxx Series FW which many on Samsungs forums are having issues with , which is being Offered. Samsung so far is denying any issues with the EVO 3xxxx Firmware despite the Reports on the Forums and exactly the same issues as the Pro Drives.

    On a good Note the Pro 960 issues seem to be gone with the New 4xxxxx FW in the Reports I have seen.
    My backup is always up to date, no problem thee. As far as that update, it just showed yesterday.

    If you aren't sure of the FW No# or don't have Magician Installed you can also see it in Device Manager
    under Disk Drives> Samsung SSD xxxxxx > Details Tab and choose the Hardware IDs Property Option ,
    and the last 4 digits of the 1st line are the FW No#.

    Attachment 174781
    So what is this new version 4B6QCXP7 firmware update suppose to fix ?? I can't find anything about it on there forum. I never updated my Pro to any 3xxxx Firmware, its still on the older 2xxxx firmware. Magician is showing the update to 4B6QCXP7 ....just don't know if I need it.

    Its supposed to fix the Issues 3xxxxx caused....you are lucky you never updated....I would not rush at it , Drives that came with 3xxxx seem okay ,Older Drives updated from 2xxxx in some cases are not , however 4xxxxx is working well from what I have read so far....

    In this case "If it ain't Broke , don't fix it" is wise at this point. It's why I started the thread as most reports on Samsung's Forums did the Magician Update Blindly without checking things out 1st. I was checking things out as mine keeps dropping to PCIe2 x4 Sppeds and I was checking their Forum to see if Others had the same Issue.

    AFAIK the 850 Series has not had or needs a FW Update , not lately anyway...

    Yup, that is the same way I feel right now, my 960 Pro is running fine, even with the old firmware. Also I don't see any news on what this new firmware does, besides fixing there screw up from the 3xxxx release. Maybe they will post more info at a latter date.

    It was mainly for the eDrive Update I think , (part of M$ Bitlocker) thought I posted about that? at least I have not seen any news of other "fixes" so far..... most assume it is a "speed fix" and just have to have it :) , with Firmware I am not an Early adopter unless I have a known issue to "Fix" .

    All Reports I have seen on the Samsung Forums say the Issues are fixed for them on the 960 Pro , there is still no fix for the the 960 EVO if you have the issues with it, the release in "waves" is pissing a few off cos they still can't get it though.....

    From the Samsung Moderator as well:

    We received the FW about 2 weeks ago to test and tested them on affected drives that people sent in for RMA and all of them have been fixed. Samsung still requires releases to be in waves for about the first week for all releases, but the limit is in the thousands and increases daily.

    @xxxxx

    Other than fixing the issues brought on by the previous FW, it adds E-drive support to the drive. It looks though that bitlocker is currently limited when it comes to NVME and E-drive as it won't utilize E-drive when the NVME drive is the boot drive.

    @xxxxx

    When you have Magician 5.2 (has to be 5.2) open, around 8pm eastern time, wait a minute or two, and then press the refresh spinning arrows. It forces Magician to contact the server and check for any new FW. Make sure your firewall has the Magician program whitelisted.

    UPDATED Feb.6th 2018
    =========================================================
    I am seeing reports on the Samsung Forums that the new 4Bxxxxx Firmware is not working
    for everyone with the 960 Pro or only works for a few days and then the problems come back ,
    so proceed with caution
    and perhaps do some research yourself 1st.

    Don't Update if you Don't have an Issue is the best Idea currently if you have the 2BXXXX FW stay with it.
