Need data from GPT locked harddisk.

My old died, so i got a new computer but i need access to data on my old harddisks, but they are GPT locked, and my new computer cant access them.

I tried converting the disk back to MBR with EaseUS partition master, but it sees it as MBR, but it is GPT..

So now i tried with several other ones, and AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard sees it as GPT and have the option to convert it into MBR, but when i start the process im getting

    - error code 4 (
Failed to lock the volume, please reboot and retry.) or

    - error code
6 (The partition table on the disk failed to update as other programs locked the partition table, please close other programs and retry.)

I tried to follow the instructions but with no luck.

Deleting the partition is not an option as i need the data on it...

    Any help would be much
    appreciated.

    Thank you
It looks like its working, but the scan is taking 14 hours, so i will cancel it now and start it when i head to bed, and let it work while i sleep...

I will give feedback when i know more :)

The Free version of Power Data Recovery is only good for 1GB of Data I believe and at $69.00 US the Personal License might sound expensive, but it depends on how valuable your data is.

Yeah, another problem is that, as far as i can se, the files is a mess when it recovers them, all files are sorted into file types, so all .odt files are on one folder, all .txt in another, and they are named something like file1.odt , file2.odt .... so i can not just pick the files i need, i need to extract all .odt files and then open them to find the one with the information i need.

    Thats a long process...
But this is still better than no access at all. I think from now on i will save all my important data on an external NTFS usb disc tho, so i dont loos all my data again if my computer dies :)

It was just a normal GPT partition, and i was suprised to find out its locked. I cant tell you why.
but MiniTool Power Data Recovery can see the data on it.

I don't remember much with the old-timers and it happened only once to me quite a while back, but I Do Remember it was a mess Luckily I had a mate from another forum that gave me his key so I could recover everything. After that I invested in extra HDDs and SSDs as well as a backup program named Casper from Future Systems Solutions and I try (but sometimes fail) to keep a up-to-date bootable cloned copy of My OS drives.

.... i found out that MiniTool Partition Wizard could convert it to MBR, so i tried that with high hopes.
Now i got this (MiniTool Power Data Recovery can still see the data).

EaseUS is also another good recovery program that's free to use for up to 2GB of data. HDD Unallocated Space Data Recovery - EaseUS Know for sure I have a free Pro copy I won in a Giveaway but I just can't seem to find it. I'd be glad to pass it along IF I could since I doubt I'll be needing it before it's outdated and the giveaway didn't include upgrade or support. Only thing I'd be worried about is the more you do with the drive, the less your chance of recovery may become.
