Windows 10 hard drive is listed as drive E instead of C

I have tried that. I unplugged one drive and the PC booted up. The Drive was still labelled E. I then reconnected that drive and disconnected the other drive, that also booted up. The drive was still labelled E. Spunk my understanding of your post was that only one of the drives would boot the PC and that the other drive should be disconnected. The system would then assign the drive to C. It seems like the Intel software is saving the original configuration and that it regards the drive as being part of a degraded RAID if one is unplugged . So it won't assign a different letter to the drive.

If it'll boot from either drive it sounds like it's definitely a RAID 1 mirror setup which is good. Have you tried using disk management to rename the E: drive as C: when you've booted from a single drive and seeing if it'll let you do it?

Hi Woody72 I have tried that I get a message "improper parameter".

Just done a bit of Googling on that error message and found this:

That link refers to copying files. The message I get is "improper parameter" and arises when I try change the drive letter of the RAID 1. It will arise when there is already a drive C. In my case there was an external drive connected by USB to the PC. That drive was labelled C. I disconnected it, but perhaps the system remembers it. It might have been set up to backup picture files, I can't remember. A while back I tried to access the external drive but it didn't show a power light.

Do have a look at the link though. It mention s copying files at the top but goes on to say it can assist with all sorts of improper parameter issues which it mentions can be caused by corruption of the partition.

I have used Mini Tool in the past, so I'll see what it comes up with.

What do you have showing here:

You should create a bootable USB Flash drive or CD of Minitool. MiniTool Free Bootable Partition Manager | Partition Wizard Bootable CD then Boot with the newly created media. Try changing the Drive letter here.
Or if you can boot the computer with a Windows Install media or other boot media, and can get to the Command Prompt n the RE, you can use Diskpart to change the drive letter. Thanks I can run diskpart on my PC running windows 10 without using Mini- tool. I'll check on my daughter's PC. I noticed today that there is an Archive Sent folder -that does provide access to old sent email.

Owing to the need to get email functionality back I think that I could create a new Outlook Data file PST and then could I import the archive Sent folder to the new PST file?
