I have tried that. I unplugged one drive and the PC booted up. The Drive was still labelled E. I then reconnected that drive and disconnected the other drive, that also booted up. The drive was still labelled E. Spunk my understanding of your post was that only one of the drives would boot the PC and that the other drive should be disconnected. The system would then assign the drive to C. It seems like the Intel software is saving the original configuration and that it regards the drive as being part of a degraded RAID if one is unplugged . So it won't assign a different letter to the drive.
