Can I install a driver for new A8-3800 AMD APU upgrade, from an A6?

I just replaced my A6-3600 APU for an A8-3800 FM1 socket. When I start the computer it says critical error, driver missing. Can a reinstall of the OS fix this? Or should I put the A6 back in and see if I can even find the drivers from AMD, I'm not sure how to go about this, or if it can even be done. There's very little info about this.
I upgraded an AMD APU on another computer I had owned about 10 years ago. It was a duel core apu upgrade and went fine, the computer just had a bit more punch to it. So I thought I'd try it with my Gateway SX2370, but maybe not.

I'm guessing it is looking for a chipset driver. AMD should provide one for the apu, will the machine boot in safe mode?

When I press F12 for bios it takes me to a small screen with a choice of booting to the hard drive or dvd, except I lose control for the key board and mouse at that point. lol. So no safe mode.

Try holding the shift key and power it up, you may have to do the power button shutdown twice, this will get you to an advanced startup screen to select safe mode.

I tried F8, and I tried the shift key with two boots, I get a solid blue screen with either one.

OK, there is one more thing to try... interrupt the boot three times using the power button, this starts a startup repair option on the fourth boot that will get you to a troubleshooting option that will let you get into safe mode with networking

Nope, it just gives me a blue screen, I tried a some other F keys just to see, and nothing but a blue screen. Maybe it just won't work with the A8.

Can you get into the bios? might just need resetting for the new processor or possibly you might need a bios update.

No, it won't let me into bios. It only sends me to a small screen that gives a choice of two boot options. But after that, it kills control of the key board and mouse. Weird how the F key works, and then it goes dead after it sends me to a new screen and I can't do anything.

Well, I put the old processor back in, and she's not a happy camper now. It took 8 reboots to get the machine running, and the cpu is just cranking away relentlessly at 70% and nothings open. I just couldn't leave well enough alone.
