WIndows Spotlight not working on Windows StartUp

After two latest Windows Cumulative updates 15063.632 and 15064.674 the option Windows Spotlight of changing Background pictures stopped working since the only Background picture we can see is the one of a beach and a cave. Before updates, changing Backgrounds pictures on Windows StartUp was working good as Windows Spotlight did it with changing Background Pictures in certain intervals.

Could someone confirm that is true or to educate us how to make Windows Spotlight option for changing of Background pictures start working again on Windows StartUp and not only to have cave and beach one.

    Thank you.

Not sure if this is quite what you mean... by Windows Startup - but this is what is observed:

    If you restart your PC
    or
if you do a cold boot
    then
you may well see a picture which is not a Spotlight picture. Note there's never an option to 'Like' the picture presented in these cases.

Whereas if you log off/on sleep/resume Lock/unlock you see Spotlight images.

I have 15063.674, and Spotlight is working.

Thank you for your response. I will try to give details, you asked:

    1. Cold boot means, I press On button on PC and after Windows boots, the Background picture is always the same, cave and beach. Windows Spotlight feature of changing Background pictures not working.

    2. Restart Computer, when Windows boots after restart, the Background picture is always the same, cave and beach, no Windows Spotlight changing of Background Picture.

    3. Computer log off/on sleep/resume Lock/unlock, Windows Spotlight works well, Background picture changes to new one.

Question of mine is if there is possibility to have Option 3 (log off/on sleep/resume Lock/unlock) implemented on Windows cold boot or restart, to make it change Background picture as it does on log off or sleep or turn monitor off after dedicated amount of time. I could not figure out how to do that although couple of updates before, it worked well, I did not change any of settings. Now, it does not implement Windows Spotlight Background picture change on Windows boot or restart.

That's a characteristic of Windows. Boot and restart are different as far as Spotlight is concerned. There have been other discussions on this, one recently. Nothing we can do as far as I know.

I can confirm this. Last couple of weeks, start (restart, or even normal start) login screen is system lock screen (cave and beach). After that it is user lock screen (Spotlight works).

Spotlight also has some other problems here, not showing extra info (despite it is turned on) and not asking if I like pictures.

Spotlight did have some problems before, and I think this is one of that occasions again.

I don't think I've ever had Spotlight reliably (or ever) set the picture seen at a cold start. But you can choose a picture instead of the 'man cave'. It uses whatever picture you set as Picture for the lock screen background. It continues to show this picture at start up even when you set the lock screen back to Spotlight. I've set it to a copy of one of my favourite Spotlight pictures so I don't have to see that ***** cave ever again.

hope it'll work, as I saw couple of posts claiming that they can't change that cave picture...

It's always worked for me - now in 1703 and previously in 1607. I have several favourites to choose from. I've saved them in my Public Pictures folder.

Spotlight recently gave me a lovely pic of a polar bear which had just dived underwater... 'cool' as some say...!
Latest is a cave in Guilin (China), which I've visited, albeit artificially recoloured.
Guilin Reed Flute Cave, Lu Di Yan, Guangxi

It's working fine on CU latest (bar restarting and booting as we've said)
