registry pros - remove "copy as path" from extended context menu?

so I wanted to add the function to my "non" extended context menu. After doing so i not only realized its a bit different (has an icon and is worded as "copy path" not "copy as path") but it also adds the same entry to the extended context menu.

This leaves you with 2 (non identical) items in extended menu to accomplish the same thing.

Now if its not already been made obvious, I dislike redundancy, clutter, and am moderately OCD.

I want to remove the "copy AS path" entry from the extended context menu. (the one that is there by default).

Its the LAST item on context menu to-do list :)

Bear in mind that, like Cut. Copy, Delete, Rename etc in the context menu these are likely to be provided by the OS in a manner that does not allow you to modify them unless you fancy recompiling or hacking Windows dlls.

Yea that's kinda what I figured. Unfortunately (and I mean that sincerely - one of life's regrets!). That's beyond my pay grade

Thank you for all your help/replies/posts :)

just wanted to re-bump this guy. The redundancy of having it there alongside adding copy path to the context menu drives me nuts.

I didnt realize i had posted this before when i was googling lol.

Anyhow, i just deleted both keys again in case something had changed. It requires running regedit as trusted installer. The end result was not only copy as path still showing up, but it still working.... #boggle.

i wonder if those are in fact the right keys..

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\CopyAsPathMenu]
    Or just delete

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\CopyAsPathMenu

    manually via regedit

that wont work, as it'll remove "copy path" (the version added via the regfile from here that includes icon on the standard context menu)

I'm trying to remove the now redundant "copy AS path" entry from displaying on the extended context menu. as "copy path" displays on both.
