how actually choose which TYPES of pics displayed in Spotlight?

How to I get to choose which pictures Windows Spotlight shows in the Lockscreen? It provides a box in which I am asked "do you like what you see?" .... but when I left- or rt.-click on it, bypasses that step and immediately goes to the Sign-in screen, giving me no chance to choose!

Use WinKey+L to lock the screen again. You need to click on the 'I like it!' or 'Not a fan' boxes which appear if you hover over 'do you like what you see?'. Do that and it should then say something like '...well show you more of the same' (or '...something different' if you said No).

To be precise, I think you "mouse over"
"do you like what you see?"
and then the options appear for you to express your opinion. Perhaps you are clicking when you shouldn't.

Then click on the appropriate one.

Note: on the rare occasions I've used Win key +L I noted I don't always see "do you like what you see?"

What did you do to 'reset Spotlight' ? It has a reputation for being fragile, doing anything other than use the controls in Settings can break it. Modifying the contents of its Assets folder in %localappdata% and especially modifying any of its registry settings can have unexpected consequences (as I once learned the hard way).

    ...And I cannot re-install Win10
I'm not clear what you mean by that, either. Maybe you mean a clean install would mean reinstalling a lot of software (some of which you may no longer have the install media for). Anyone can 'upgrade' to the version of Windows 10 they currently have as a way to repair a 'broken' system. It's called an in-place repair upgrade and keeps all user files and installed apps. It was how I repaired my Spotlight after breaking it by poking around in its registry.

    Solved by changing the problem:

Gave up on ineffective "delicate" non-functioning Spotlight and instead simply (and safely) downloaded free Dynamic Theme app. Have set "daily Bing image as dynamic tile of application" for Lockscreen

Works, and when it would provide a pic I dislike, have now several good, quick and easy options, including using for Lockscreen that day a specific Windows picture I happen to really like
