    Thanks for the winaero tip!

winaero is fantastic. All the time I've spent searching for less than a quarter of these tweeks! Thanks for that!

I haven't the courage to deny system permissions to parts of the registry. Might cause long term problems when it comes to un-install, updates, etc...??? Who knows, I don't.

Anyway, I kind of like double clicking on my batch file, when the icons come back and annoy me. It's satisfying to watch them disappear My batch file also deletes the dropbox icon too (same principle).

Haha, it's a pleasure, and I know what you mean about the batch file, I also get that feeling. Thanks for taking the time to update the forum, I'm sure we'll help some people save a bunch of time. Take care.

Hey, uhm... is there a way to delete the MegaSync folder from the navigation panel in the file explorer without having to edit the Registry? I uninstalled MegaSync but that didn't get rid of the path to the folder in the navpanel nor did it delete the "MEGA" folder in Documents. I'd rather not have to make any changes inside the Registry, I hope there's a way to avoid doing that. Thanks!

That's how the navpanel looks since I uninstalled the program:

    Hi kimokimo,

The registry is nothing to be afraid of, for example you could delete every entry that contains the word mega and you would almost certainly not cause any problems to Windows even if you didnt know what the entires did.

If ever I'm not confident in a change I'm making i backup the key (folder) im working in so I can restore it if necessary.

    That said:
    1. Have you tried Winaero Tweaker which is mentioned earlier in this thread?
    2. You could also try something like CCleaner to clean up the registry.
    3. You could also try reinstalling MEGAsync and then using something like IObit Uninstaller to help you properly uninstall it. I use the paid version of Revo Uninstaller to uninstall pretty much anything because the Windows uninstaller is very basic.

Let us know what works, it might help someone else.

    Here's what I did:

I ended up trying a few things:
    1. I downloaded Winaero Tweaker (had already used it before for customization purposes) but the program didn't seem to recognize the pinned folder in the navpanel, so that didn't work.
    2. After that I went to the regedit and began deleting everything I could find that had "MEGA" or "MEGAsync" in it, until searching for those words gave no results. However, my navpanel ended up looking like this:
How to Remove MEGA in Navigation Pane-captura-copia.jpg
    3. I then decided to reinstall MEGAsync and tick the "Don't show icons..." box, as @Integro showed above. The left panel was finally cleaned up, but after uninstalling MEGAsync, there's still the "MEGA" folder in my Documents and it doesn't go away.
I'm happy that cleaning up the navpanel was that easy, but I can't seem to get rid of that little folder in the end...

I no longer use MEGA, but if the registry is being reset often:
    1. Try giving yourself full control of the registry key (right-click) {C9C4C58A-A7A6-434E-A073-B02BF9E703E1} and removing all other write permissions including for system. You may need to take ownership too, can't remember, but basically when only you have write permisson no programs, not even Windows can make any changes.
    2. Alternatively you could create a sheduled task using the script tharg2 mentions that runs everytime you sign into Windows.
    3. Try using Winaero Tweaker (Winaero - Free small and useful software for Windows) to manage items in the Navigation Pane.
Note: I've used option 1 for Dropbox because it works even after updates, but the principle should work for all cloud drives.
though different section of windows, how do I move it's context menu under "send to" section?
heres a screenshot of what I need. once launched the Mega app, it's context menu appears and I wish it under send to portion.

    Hi kimokimo,

Try searching the registry for System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree.

Usually a search for Mega would find an entry like this:
How to Remove MEGA in Navigation Pane-image.png

It's possible that for some reason yours is messed up and looks something like this:
How to Remove MEGA in Navigation Pane-image.png

You'll know when you find it because everything else will have it's correct name in the (default) value.

    Hi m18xr2,

    That's a good question.

You can see and edit the items in Send to by opening shell:sendto with Run (win+r), but achieving what you want is another story, unless Mega uses a program to handle that upload function and you can find it to add the shortcut there.

Refer to the tools mentioned here. With some time and patience you may be able to figure out how to move entries.

    Hope you win.

Is there a way to know how many results the search gives? Because I've just searched for "System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree" and it only leads me to this:
How to Remove MEGA in Navigation Pane-regedit-copia.jpg
How can I know if there are more results other than that one?

Also, I've just searched for "System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree mega" and there are no results.

No, there's no way to see how many results there are in the entire registry, at-least not that I know of. Check out this program, if you're frustrated with RegEdit.

Keep the search as exactly System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree because the search engine is simple.

Once you get to the first result press F3 and it will find the next result. Keep doing this until you don't find anymore and then sign out and back into Windows when you're done to make sure changes can take effect. Restarting explorer.exe may also work.

question, when Mega app is not launched the entry in context menu does not appear. only when app is launched it shows up, is this through the form of injection by the app into registry?

maybe I can launched the app once injection is in, then check out regedit and have that somehow copy it else where in context menu, ie send to.?
