That's a crap shoot too, you have about a 50/50 shot it will work, like I said the ONLY way I discovered to completely remove it from your system is a reset or refresh.

I really don't know why people recommend UxStyle or any derivative of it, it only causes more heartache than it's worth.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, if it uninstalls cleanly for you great but more times than none it doesn't.
You got a point but, we're installing the OS more often than programs lately!

True, but when the final version of 10 is installed I would certainly steer clear of UxStyle.

I've never really had a problem with it(" every time I wanted to change a theme or when new Windows Updates came out which was quite frequent") in those cases, just when I wanted to totally purge it(there is a difference between purging and uninstalling) as, in the case of preparing for Win10 upgrade, I then just re-imaged to a couple months back... I will be using it when 10 is finished and UXStyles has a updated release.

Well, I took the 'crap shoot' and uninstalled UXStyle with no (so far) problems. Of course, I Macrium'd first. The last thing about Windows 10 that I dislike is the inability to have dark (back, preferably) title bars with white text! Maybe Microsoft will add that ability in a future update.

it installed for me with no problems; where is the "theme" folder to place themes in?

    thanks!

You're welcome. Just remember when you get any updates other than for Defender, before rebooting, switch to a default windows theme(Hero is good), then reboot so the update installs, then just click your theme to turn it back on. You do not have to uninstall UXStyles, just switch themes, and you'll be ok.

what happens if you forget to switch themes before rebooting?
also, do you have to switch themes to reboot at any time, or only after an update?

    thanks

Just after an update that requires rebooting, specially those that have to do with IE(cumulative updates). If you forget to switch, nothing bad may happen, it's just a precaution because UXStyles may get in the way of the update installing.

Edit: Usually along with any theme pack, the Dev who created it will have warnings & important notices with it.
I'm not an expert on the subject, but I do use it if you look inShow Us Your Desktop here are some of the themes and icon packs I have used in Win10... In reliability history and Event Viewer you will probably see more errors, but they won't affect your use of the PC depending on what you use the system for, and are nothing to worry about, it's just that windows wanted to do something and couldn't the first time and had to retry.
