That actually uninstalls UXStyles and resets all patches to default(or at least tries)

Huh? Uxstyle does not, apparently, patch any files.. so I don't understand why that would be the case. UxStyle does this patching in kernel memory via its device driver.

Regardless, he hasn't been able to get Uxstyle installed, so it can't uninstall what hasn't been installed.

When I click "INSTALL" the progress bar makes it about 3/4 of the way across before erroring out

What I'm saying is, "When" the system is patched using UXStyles, running Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&sfc/scannow&Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc/scannow&pause uninstalls it and repairs all three patches back to their default settings.

Have you tried rebooting already and then patching? Maybe your system has some changes pending, thus, not allowing the patch,.

And again, I don't see why that would be the case. Dism and sfc only repair corrupted files. They don't uninstall kernel drivers. UxStyle doesn't touch any system files, so I don't see why that would be the case.

And again, running this in order to get a cleaned up state so he can install it is the goal, even if it did uninstall it, it wouldn't matter because he hasn't got it installed yet.

Use the command Cliff mentioned from an elevated command prompt:

    Code:
    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc /scannow&pause

I think I see what you mean now, first get the system in order, then try patching. Another words, first clean the house, then move the furniture
