    Hi,
I've just published an app to create tiles on Windows 10 Start Menu. It's called "Better StartMenu". You can try it for free.
    Gave it a shot there.

It's got some nice options and it's very user friendly, but there are two issues that are stopping me buying it though.

    1. I don't like that it needs a program running constantly for it to work. I understand that in Windows 10 a separate desktop component is required to link a tile to an executable, but other similar programs don't require a constant running companion application, they just open and close when a tile is clicked.

    2. Having the settings button on the top left of the application. Once I have my tiles setup I like to drag the application to the bottom right of my screen behind the taskbar so I no longer see it pop up when I click a tile. Because of this button I can't drag the program from it's corner so I can't hide it fully.

Except for these issues this is probably the best custom tile program available for Windows 10 right now. They are deal breakers for me though

You can try using WinTileR as an alternative. It is easy and simple.

I think I will wait also. All I want to do is be able to select individual tile background colours e.g. all my system tiles in one colour, all my program tiles in another colour and so on. At the moment one has to except the colour they are which looks (to me anyway) a real mess of colours.

    Stardock Fences?

Using 10, ... have lost interest in tile customization.
Gone back to customizing ICONS on the desktop.
I have removed all menu tiles.

    Hi there

I haven't tried it but apparently this freeware program will at least allow you to change the tile colours ..

    Hi DaddyG,
I've gone onto the link you provided but it only refers to Windows 8.1 as my OS is Win 10 I'm a bit reluctant to try it!

"WinTileR" is working well, a little more versa-'tile'! (pun intended!)
(New version, I think) Fixed UI pop up bug.

How'd you make your tiles' background disappear? I too am using WinTileR with tiles that have .png with trans backgrounds. But the tiles always takes a lighter accent color than the start menu. Is there an additional 3rd party app that configures this?

    Custom tiles yet?

[Custom] I believe so... for quite some time.
Solved Custom Tiles (for Desktop Apps)
Search for 'custom tiles' goes without saying.

    Me & @Cliff S we're making a few already for desktop programs:

    Beware:
Hand-made tiles, no tool used (yet) to ease the process* with this method. But it's pretty easy and works fine.
    * Minimum requirements for making tiles: Notepad & Paint.
