For best readability, more contrast between text and background there is, easier to read.
Light colored font on dark background looks larger than it actually is or dark font on light background.

I came across the source code for Pinta (written in .Net for Linux with Mono runtime)
As you may know, it has a cool "eye-dropper" which allows you to click any image and that pixel's colour gets captured - I was hoping to include that code in ColorChooser but it has a GTK# dependency (~24MB which is a bit much for just a little extra functionality.)
Found a better way.... included 'external switch' on the menu to import to the colour bar the pixel colour clicked from outside the app.

Using his new tool, I was able to pull the colors from this (Superfly)Dragonfly wallpaper, and use them.
Something I have learned while creating my themes is, for a mostly dark wallpaper lighter theme colors show up much better, and the reverse, a lighter wallpaper should have darker theme colors. Otherwise the theme is "lost" on the paper.
Windows drop shadows show up better this way and it makes better use of other Aero items:
