This is where á theme patcher comes in handy. FE would then be a very nice Aero Black and not a nuclear white out, that it is.

True, gold on white is a little too much lite

Thanks, but I found a better, only slightly darker color for the Window text.
go to
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors]

and change this value, then sign out and back in:
"WindowText"="244 164 96"

It will then be a bit more readable in File Explorer

Yup all color changes in the registry are only for the current applied theme and current user. It's about the only safe registry hack there is
