    Default Start Menu/Tiles

Just a question about the default start menu/tiles. Originally I didn't like the look of the tiles so I removed them however now I'm thinking I may actually like them. So is there a way I can get the default start menu/tiles back?

I did the same thing. I didn't find a "reset" for it, so I just did a web search for "Windows 10 default start menu", and pinned them back. Here's two I found that are the defaults (I gave two so you know they are the defaults).

Ok, so how did you get the default back? I've done the same search and everything I have found says to look for 2 specific files located "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows" but they are not there.

All the default apps are in the All apps menu when you click on the start button. I just found them, right clicked, clicked "Pin to Start", and then arranged them, and resized them, to match the two screenshots I have above.

Ya, I've been playing around and was beginning to think that is what you did. Thanks a bunch for the info!

The correct way to do it is create a new user account, look at the start menu to make sure the tiles look right, then logout.
Login back to the admin account, run task manager, go to services tab and stop the tiledatamodelsvc service, it might take several tries as the service will restart and the PID is the same as StateRepository as you will notice they will either be stopped or running at the same time when you stop the tiledatamodelsvc.

What you want to do is then delete all the files in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer where <username> is the user's Start Menu that needs fixing.

Then you just copy C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\vedatamodel.edb and put it in the above folder. The <username> here is the newly created account you just logged out of. After this, just click on the start menu as it will restart the service you just stopped earlier.

Also, what you posted above seems to be how the default start menu looks like a month ago. My start menu failed to work and I reinstalled by doing a in-place install and it seems the tiles are different now, there is no way to even manually add tiles for apps that aren't even installed like Minecraft, I Heart Radio, Flipboard.

@Almighty1 I have tried what you suggested, now my start menu is empty, I have tried recopying back the backup I made several times with restarts, however the start menu still remains empty.
