mmmmn, bacon!
quick question for you theme gods; my non system icons,(chrome, cc cleaner, etc) are all plain and white; any easy way to get them back to the colorful way they are supposed to look?
thanks, and back to bacon!
Try rebuilding your icon cache:
ToRebuild icon cache follow the below mentioned steps -
1.Open a File Explorer window.
2.At the top left click the view tab and select(check) "HiddenItems.
3.Go to C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local
4.Right click on IconCache.db and click on Delete.
5. Click on Yes to confirm the deletion.
NOTE:This deletes the file to the Recycle Bin. It is safe to empty the Recycle Bin when finished.
6. Close the window.
7. Empty the Recycle Bin.
Deleted the icon cache restarted, and nothing but a black screen now...
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Pulled plug, and restarted, but still no "real" icon colors..
How in the world did you get a black screen? The Icon cache is automatically recreated at next boot if you only deleted the highlighted file in the window shot. Does rebooting again help or is it always a black screen?
Have you made the recovery disk?
Or better yet have you created a system image and recovery environment?
A restore point?
Those are the first things I do with a new OS install/upgrade.
