Lock screen used to work but failed recently

    Hello fellow friends,
I have a issue here. My window 10 lock screen background image used to be on slide show mode but today it fails and it keeps showing me the same background image by window default.
I believe it is a registry error because I checked all possible cause except the registry part because I don't know where to check from. Or I could missed out some places.
Any solutions provided will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
    Cal

Hi, can you post a screenshot showing your settings here please?

Have you ever tried disabling your lock screen?

Do you have a system restore point or disk image which you can use to restore your system to as it was before this started to happen?

Thank you for your reply. As you can see, my lock screen doesn't show the same image as the one in the setting area.

An update here, the lock screen doesn't show the correct image if I start my laptop after shutting down after use but the lock screen shows the correct image if I hibernate it and start it back up and also when I tab in win key + L.

I am confused and I hope this will give us some hints on how to solve this. BTW, i tried system restore but it doesn't change anything.

    Thanks again.

Hi, the lock screen shown from a restart is created differently from the lock screen
    - after Windows key + L
    - after switching user
    - after resuming

For example, it has no 'Like what you see' on it. It may well be that it looks different to the one the appears otherwise. See comment here:

I spent a while trying to get my lockscreen and spotlight working again.. having seen it partially working again, it took some days before it finally started working in all circumstances. Not straightforward.

This free reliable tweaker offers some convenient options:

In your first screenshot you have it set to Picture, but you want Slideshow.

Also search the extensive and professional Tutorial section here for Lock screen if you need more.

I'm sorry, I was trying to solve this and I left it on picture mode instead of slideshow mode but afterwards still no luck with your program. The slideshow used to work but somehow it just not work anymore.

I have just discovered this happens if you turn Windows search off. Have you done that perhaps?
Please check the state of the service (Windows key + R, services.msc)

    Method 5

Unless you can resolve this by using a system restore point or by restoring a previously created disk image (We strongly and repeatedly recommend the routine use or disk imaging to provide a robust quick recovery route - e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) I doubt you'll find a fix for this. I looked around for quite a while when trying to get Spotlight working again.. which eventually happened.

If you do, please post back.

Otherwise it will take an in-place upgrade repair install (which keeps all programs and data, and most settings).
