Different Lock Screen Picture When Turning On The Computer

Hi, this is a weird bug that I've noticed which is a little different and I prefer to have my Lock Screen picture as the picture when the computer boots up.
(Note: I am the only administrator, and there's only this account on my computer)

Every time I boot the computer, and Windows starts to load, this picture which I call "Inside The Man Cave" shows up when Windows logs into my account:

Yet I have set my Lock Screen picture as this:

How can I have the picture of the Girl Playing Music For The Birds as the picture that would show instead of being Inside The Man Cave?

    Thanks.

On Settings > Personalization > Lock screen you need to scroll down and turn on 'Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen'. It's very near the bottom, so you might not have seen it.

Hi Bree. I went to that location and I apparently already have that option set to On. So I was hoping if taking it a step further would fix it, yet it didn't:

What I did was turn Off that setting, restarted the computer. Then after the computer finished loading, I went back to that setting location and turned it back On. I restarted the computer hoping that this 'probably' fixed the little bug, but nope, I accidentally forgot to cross my fingers, hence the Man Cave still haunts me.

It works for me. Have you tried locking the screen while logged on? I usually test my lock screen whenever I've changed it (WinKey + L). Perhaps it needs to 'lock' at least once before the picture gets used on the sign in screen?

    I just tried that out:
I pressed Win+L, clicked back at my account (dunno if this has anything to do with it, yet my account has a password), I restarted the computer, and the Man Cave still shows up.

Yep I had your problem too and hate that cave. Tried every suggestion on this site and others but to no avail. I got round it by using WinAeroTweaker program. In that program I have ticked 'Turn off lock screen.' When I boot up now my laptop goes straight to my lockscreen with my own picture choice. I have found that I need to use a logon password can't persuade it to boot up without one but that is a small price to pay not to see that awful cave and have control over what picture I see on my logon screen. I use Win 10 Home and it seems different Win 10 versions work differently. Hopefully it won't be too long before MS get rid of using two logon screens especially for folks who don't share their computer. Hope this helps as I spent hours trying to sort this out and I know how frustrating it is when you think you've cracked the problem and then that hideous cave sneaks back on screen!! Kind regards Flissa.

Hmm thanks for suggesting that. I tried that option out, but it still doesn't work. I tried rebooting, and that Cave picture still shows up. I remember a while ago, this picture didn't used to show up, I guess some automatic Windows update messed up that setting. The cave doesn't really bother me so much, but it would be nice to 'customize' the way I want Windows to look.
And I agree with you on the who 'two logon screens' that are unnecessary. I guess the Cave uses some default startup log in window, which is completely unnecessary.

I know this is a very old thread but I'm currently having this same issue as the OP in this thread with my sign-in screen and lock screen being 2 different pictures. My lock screen is the one I want but when I restart or sign out the picture is some default landscape picture that I didn't choose and don't like.

This issue occured when I recently changed my lock screen picture to a different one and noticed when I restarted the computer my sign-in screen changed to that ugly default picture but my lock screen is the correct picture I chose so what gives?

I am the only user on my PC and I am admin so I don't know what to do and I've tried searching around the internet for weeks and just now happened to find this old thread so here I am.

Is anyone still on these forums nowadays? Could someone please help me with this annoying bug?

Hi Boove since my post I have finally 99.99% solved this problem. Just bought a new laptop so had to setup again. Hope I can help. First, unless you are security paranoid, I would not use a password. This will bypass the login screen on bootup. Also I never logout just shutdown. If I logout the login screen comes up sometimes with my cave nemesis. To set the background and desktop pics either the same or different I would recommend downloading the free app Dynamic Themes from Microsoft Store. When it's installed you can access it via Universal Applications . Then under lockscreen or desktop you can access loads of pics and set them. Make sure you have windows spotlight as your source. You can scroll through the app's gallery and save pics or set them. Another useful freeware is WindowsAero Tweaker. You can change all sorts of settings which Microsoft would prefer we knew nothing about. Are you aware that your administrator account is different to The Administrator Account. The first one gives you limited control the second lets you play god! To activate it requires you changing the registry but the WindowsAeroTweaker does it at the click of a button. Just be cautious and always deactivate it when finished. Just occasionally a Windows Update which requires a restart will cause that dreaded cave to reappear but I just restart and everything goes back. Hope you have success as I know how annoying the problem is. Get back to me if you need further help Kind regards Flissa

    Thank you Flissa for responding,
I just got this issue fixed this morning after being on the phone with a Microsoft high-level tech for over 2 hours. Basically they couldn’t figure it out either and we’re completely puzzled as to how or why this occurred in the first place. Although, the solution was I had to make a new user account and transfer from my original user to the new one and now it works again. No more ugly landscape when I sign in and/or boot up my PC. This isn’t exactly a fix but clearly that profile bugged out the lock screen background image somehow so this seemed like the only solution. Thankfully I didn’t actually lose anything but I did have to reset my settings the way I like them and re-configure my emulators etc but overall I’m just grateful that I have my backgrounds back the way I want them. If anyone is still having this issue I would recommend making a new user and just testing to see if the problem still exist and if it doesn’t like it was for me then just switch over to that new user account and throw the old one away but don’t forget to back up your documents folder and anything personal on that user account so you don’t lose anything and just be prepared to have to reconfigure your settings.
