    Windows Spotlight/Lock screen

Got two Win 10 Pro x64 systems in full time use, a laptop and a desktop. On the desktop the Lock screen is working as it should in default config - a new high def picture every few days, some of them quite beautiful. However on the laptop the picture never changes. I've compared the Group Policy settings that control this and they are identical, all options not configured. Any thoughts on how to kick the laptop into action?

Spotlight doesn't work on my laptop too, I get the same red airplane wing photo & no 'like what you see' message. I recently installed Windows on a new HD to test a few things & spotlight was one of them, it worked until I set a PIN for sign in then it stopped working, removing the PIN doesn't fix the problem.
I've been all over the internet looking for a fix but nothing which works.
If you have set a PIN on your laptop then this is the reason spotlight isn't working imo.

You could be right as I do use a PIN, but I use a PIN on the desktop too, and no problem there. Anyway, it's always good to know it's not just you ;-)

It's not necessarily PIN related. I've never used one; some weeks ago the picture stopped changing. I suspect it was when I started playing with disabling the lock screen (no clever hacks, just options or Winaero's tweaker - scheduled task).

I have noted that if I use Lock (win key + L) that lock screen (only) does show the 'like what you see' message.

For the time being I've installed Amazing Lock Screen from the Store. See how that goes.

I also use a fingerprint reader. It was strange that the fresh install worked until I'd set a PIN. Something else must be interfering with spotlight.

Hi, after many attempts, I got Spotlight back up and running. 'Like what you see' had disappeared, and the image wasn't changing when Spotlight was selected.

I'm not sure which of this sequence proved effective. Maybe some combination.

    Note:
    1. Spotlight worked in another account if I switched to it.
    2. Deleting all images (they are jpg's with no extension) in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assetsdid not solve the problem but the folder was repopulated when I enabled Spotlight. (Some report this not happening).

    3. Simply switching to Picture from Spotlight, and back again and trying the Lock screen did not help
    4. Re-registering all apps for the current account as suggested in one post did not help. (Note- there's no specific registration instruction related to Spotlight in the tutorial list).

    5. What worked? Finally, I made a random decision to 'Choose an app to show detailed status' (on the lock screen). I chose Weather.
    This worked.

What stopped it working? I think possibly disabling the lock screen using Winaero's tweaker, then enabling it again.

Tried deleting the contents of the Assets folder that just gave me a blank lock screen & photos didn't redownload, other things I've done is to make Bing my default search engine, removed all apps from the lock screen, reregistering the app.
I don't have any lock screen tweaker app.
I originally had Win 10 home & the spotlight worked, then I upgraded to Pro (as I had a key from Win 8 pro), it stopped working after that but at that time the pro version didn't have spotlight, I awaited the Anniversary update which enabled it but still the same.
I created another user & it worked but I didn't check further that time, it was only due to a different problem (WinDVD) that I decided to install Windows 10 pro on a different hard drive to test WinDVD & thought to test spotlight, it worked until I set up PIN, so in my case it's either the PIN or some update which possibly ran at the same time.
I don't get the 'like what you see' either.
