    Pictures From A Live Webcam

O.k..Have had this problem for a while now, there is another thread on it somewhere, I view a live webcam in a favourite holiday location and used to be able to save images from it to my desktop, I cannot do this any more, it saves the images as PNG, I can convert them to JPEG, but still can't view them, the suggested way around this problem was to take screenshots of the images, which works, but is far from ideal......anyone else had this problem ?.......Del.

Mmmhh....just tried it with Windows Photo Viewer.....it says that ''it can't display this picture because the file is empty''......so although it is sending a shortcut to the desktop, by right clicking and then clicking save as, there is nothing actually in the file , when I convert it to JPEG and try to open it, there is nothing there, obviously for that reason.....strange......Del.

    Capture Image From Live Camera

O.k....Got another thread on this issue in Customization, but with no takers....there MUST be an answer to this problem, I click on image from a live camera..... Save Picture As.....it saves image as PNG file......I can not then convert file to jpeg, to post to Facebook..... it says "file is empty"....is this because the image is from a live camera ?......I used to be able to do this, but now can't, most annoying.....does anyone have an answer ?........Del.

Ok so I've just gone to two different live webcam sites and right clicked an image and selected "save image as" Not "copy image"
The only option to save was as a jpg. file. The resulting file then opens in Photoshop.
I don't know but maybe your problem is a characteristic of the webcam software itself? Someone with more knowledge than myself may be along presently.

Thanks for the reply.....the live camera is at Robin Hood's Bay, so not far from you, when I click "Save Picture As" and save to desktop, it comes up as untitled and as PNG file....I can't change this to JPEG, or send it to Facebook, maybe I am missing something.......Del.

Further to the last post, there are only two options available....save as PNG...or, save as Bitmap.....

Hi. Having gone to the Robin Hoods Bay webcam page, I find if I select "save picture as" I get the choice of saving as "JPG" or saving as "all files" No mention of "PNG"
Maybe it's something to do with file associations on your system?
