Picture On Startup Not Showing After Update

On my Toshiba notebook PC (Model C55-A5302), after an automatic update was pushed down last week, the "Do You Like What You See?" picture does not show - just black screen with "Do You Like?" question displayed. I have to advance to the login screen, at which point the picture displays, but then it's too late to answer the stupid question!

    Very frustrating!

How do I get the picture to show when it's supposed to?

Alternately, how do I just get rid of the whole picture quiz thing?

Hello tpelle, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

It sounds like you may have "Windows Spotlight" set as your lock screen background. You could change your lock screen background to be a picture with the Get fun facts, tips, and more from Windows and Cortana on your lock screen option turned off to get rid of the question.

    No sir, that's not right.
We have black screen which shows all the text with all the fun facts and tips and question about whether we like the picture or not only without the picture. Picture shows when we click on any place on screen it appears with account picture and password field. We need to get things as they were before - which means the picture should be visible.

Hello Fusionl, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

The screen that you see after clicking on the "lock" screen to dismiss it is the "sign-in" screen instead.

As a test, what happens when you change your lock screen background to a picture as in the tutorial I posted? Does the selected picture show on your lock screen afterwards?

I decided to switch to slide show. Nothing's changed - black "lock" screen and background picture on "sign-in" screen.

In that case, double check to see if this below may be the issue.

If you turn on Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen, then you will need to make sure that you have Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing checked in your visual effects settings to prevent the lock screen background from not displaying properly.

My Windows 7 is connected via HDMI to my Element flat screen and today, something completely out of my control happened: the picture isn't coming in. In other words, on my HDMI inputs are nothing but HDMI cables, and my computer is no exception. The tv somehow doesn't pick up the picture that is supposed to show, not even the startup screen comes up. All there is is the message "No signal", as if the computer wasn't connected. What should be done?

I'd like to be able to give some input, but I haven't used Windows 7 in years. Someone may come along that has Windows 7 hooked to a TV, and give some help. Or, you could try posting your problem in our Sister site, SevenForums.
