Hi there! I posted a thread recently
Dwm.exe Error Message At Startup Everytime?
I noticed years ago after i got my laptop dell xps 15 9550, you replied and mentioned of how to make windows 10 look like borders like 7 etc and all those things.
How to change Windows 10 Borders Like Windows 7?
Do you have any advice for my issues? I'm getting very conflicting information. My big issue is the dwm.exe thing which is causing my computer lot of issues. This is obviously related to aeros.

Ppl said uninstall aeros to fix the issue. This would right? But wouldn't that mean my borders will no longer look glasslike? I also see there is a site called www.glasseu8.com and i believe that is the site to upgrade or download the most compatible version of aeros to the computer? Do you use this or have this? I dont remember years ago what site i downloaded the aeros but i know i did because i see i installed it on same day as classic shell years ago when i check my program. I cant have windows with those borders though if i remove the aeros right?

For classic shell, i get the same thing about asking to configure it correctly but i always ignore the message like the dwm. What do you suggest i do? Some ppl say there is no more support for classic shell... is that true? So i have to use the windows start menu like windows 10? I know a while back i downloaded classic shell solely for this. But what confuses me is on other site, someone said you could download the most updated version of openshell/classic shell? I seem to be getting conflicting opinions here and what i could/could not do. Can you give me your advice here?
I use windows 10 pro and 1909 build. The only reason these things bother me now is because my computer seems to be having a ton of issues lately and i think the dwm.exe message has to be the sole reason for this. Thanks.
Hi, I'll probably miss something here. As i understand it
- you are having lots of (unstated) problems
- you have Open shell and Aeroglass installed
- you are unclear as to how to configure Open Shell

Open Shell: there is no support, near enough, from the group that has taken this on. There is a forum but I got a very rude response when having a crash problem of a type that has been reported by several users over the years.

Using that is a matter of using the Help file and exploring the options.
So i have to use the windows start menu like windows 10?
No, as per threads here on the program which you can find and read, Classic Shell still works for people, but no new builds of that. Open shell (same code) is the maintained version now.

Aeroglass: yes, you will lose border transparency if you uninstall it and your borders will change. If you suspect it is causing you problems, why not try uninstalling it to see if that's true? You can easily reinstall it. 1.5.13 is the latest, but please note, the last couple of updates to 1909 and 1903 have broken Aeroglass's transparency. (I started a thread on this on MSFN and this has been confirmed by several users, who also posted a sort of temporary fix. Meanwhile I've simply blocked Windows updates so it works).

If you have Windows issues after uninstalling Aeroglass for test purposes, start a new thread, giving specific details and screenshots as appropriate.

Before doing so, check your disk, check your file system (chkdsk) and run SFC /SCANNOW- both these from an admin command prompt.
