Will it do that if I just have the Classic Start Menu installed and not the Classic Explorer? I opted out of that option when installing Classic Shell since I had no problem with the native Win 10 explorer. I like Classic shell and will not be happy if I can't use it.
its nothing to do with classic Explorer, as that effects the browser explorer, not the explorer.exe that windows interface uses. i tried Classic Shell without Classic Explorer, and that just caused the same crash.

As i said in my post Iobit Start 8 (dont be fooled by the name) works just fine with Redstone 2 edition, and its pretty much the same as Classic Shell in most aspects. The only thing i find that it wont do is drag and drop things in the start menu, like dragging one program to another folder in the start menu. otherwise its 'liveable'.

If your term 'Redstone 2' means the same as the Creator's Update then just FYI I'm using Classic Shell with the Creator's Update with no problems so far.

Redstone 2 is the 'latest' version of Windows (build 15063) released in April 2017. which seems to be the one and the same edition. So i dont know why it crashes my explorer, and not your lol.

What is your version number, and Creators Update is advertised as build 15042.

Interesting versions mentined, my RTM is Version 1607 Build 14393.1066 and my IP is Version 1703 Build 16170.1000. Both up to date but haven't been offered the Creators Update yet.

They skipped it with trick in 14393.1066. Close it out and remove it i the control panel and you can stay in 14393. 1066 Build 16170 is so buggy they may have to call a pest control outfit.
