Quick Launch Recycle Bin not refreshing

I am using a custom Icon for my recycle bin. I ran into an issue with it not refreshing when it was on my desktop but I was able to resolve the problem by editing the registry. Solution found here:
(Recycle Bin - Fix For Custom Icons Not Refreshing - Windows 7 Help Forums)

The problem I am having is that I've moved my recycle bin to the Quick Launch section on my taskbar. Now that I've done that, I've run into the problem where it doesn't refresh again. It doesn't change icons, whether there is trash in it or not.

I believe that I could resolve the problem by editing the registry again but don't know where to start.

Any advice on how to get a functioning recycle bin with custom icon working on the taskbar would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Hello LowJacK, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

You might see if placing the Recycle Bin directly on the taskbar may work better instead.

If you change themes, you need to redo the entry(add a comma & zero ",0")for every theme, because this refresh hack is theme based, just like a mouse cursor, of system colors.

The hack from @Airbot's tutorial always works for me.

Notice the Jabba recycle bin on both desktop and on the taskbar(I use the desktop toolbar to show the recycle bin there, but the concept will be the same), note the video was made for another reason:

Thank you both for the quick reply. Cliff's solution worked, although I appreciate the alternative Brink.

I had modified my theme color, which reset all the icons. I don't have any desktop icons so I didn't see that they were reset. Once I altered them back to my custom icon and re-edited the registry (,0), the Quick Launch Recycle Bin icon functions as it should.

    Thanks again!
