Hey Edwin for comparison of different resolutions my current resolution is 1400 x 1050 @ 125 DPI and I can make a column of 6 small icons wide.
    That sounds about right! :)

Back to normal, but the Weather Tile will not go live!

There's some weird stuff goin on in this build!
    Mine's never gone live.
Had to edit my weather tile in Paint when I posted my desktop after unleashing it's liveliness.

This one's tough to figure out, or I'm sleepy, or both!

When I went back to my native resolution but was still at 100%dpi, I had a ton of space between my avatar and the left edge, same on the other side. When I reverted back to 125%dpi, things seemed to tighten up a bit.
(Been a long day wrestling with this build!)

The most encouraging thing I saw was a way to completely removed the tiles and make the menu smaller. I printed them off but I don't know where I got them. this is what you can do to the start menu. Sorry, I am not going to type all of the instructions, but maybe this will help you find them. I found the sight it is computer world.

you can resize the start menu,
    pin and unpin the tiles:
    resize live tiles,
    turn off live tiles updates,
pin items from the left side of the start menu,
adding control panel and special items to the left side of the start menu,
remove all live tiles and make it look like windows 7.

Do you know how we can make the menu smaller? As you can see in my photo, I would like to move it inward from right to left. Do you know how we do that?
No, but now that you mention it, you know I'm gonna try until I break something trying!
Let me know when you figure it out! :)

I spent to much time installing the darn thing, I ain't about to risk breaking something.
Haven't found anything that points even remotely close to the metrics of the Start Menu, (yet!)

    Sorry - my bad.

My screen capture program won't let me do it.

    Feel free to delete it.
