    Need to Change Default Background

    Good Evening All,

    Windows 10 just upgraded itself to TH-2. One of the annoying things since I have upgraded to WIn-10 was that I have no control over that default white background for everything. It really hurts my eyes.

    Can someone give me a registry hack, or a tool that will allow me to control the default background color.

    If not, then I have no choice to go back to '7 where I could change the color and have control over my desktop. In win-10, I don't feel like I have control over it, rather I feel I have had control of my appearance robbed from me.

    Have been on W-10 since it's initial release. TH-2 really disappointed me in that it did not bring back this feature

    Sincerely and respectfully,

    Dave

    Hello Dave, :)

    You could use a High Contrast theme to be able to change your background colors.

    I found another fix on this very website. Here is the solve:

    1. Background colour:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors]
    "Window"="250 250 177"

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\Colors]
    "Window"="250 250 177"

    I changed my settings to 230 230 230...And it works on my system.

    I just tested on my system, and I haven't noticed any changes. Same default white in File Explorer.

    The default is 255 255 255 though.

    What backgrounds does it change for you?

    i dont think it changed any for him in file explorer. Because ive certainly tried that on several different pcs overtime and its never changed anything for me. I believe that color is hard coded in the registry in binary code and its extremly difficult to figure out which one your looking for bcuz theres alot of (ff ff ff) going on in there. But hey if anybody knows a way to do this thourgh the registry then im all ears. But as far as i know its not possible other than third party program (Windowblinds)

    that color is not hard coded in the registry (my mistake) imeant to say in the explorer frame.dll file and you need a resource editor to open it. sorry for the typo
