Loses double height taskbar on logoff/reboot

As soon as I log off or reboot the VM W10 loses the double height taskbar. Is there a trick? I tried both small and normal taskbar icons. Also I have that jazz in the lower right corner of the desktop eval version etc. even though it says Windows Is Activated.

    It's English W10 x86

    I'm using latest VMPlayer.
    Any hints?

    TB height not remembered

This is still happening on my Win 10 1803, upgraded to the latest build, 17134.81. Again, this is on my ASUS U50f laptop, but the installation on my non-mobile ASUS self-built tower remembers its TB height fine. It's simple enough to drag the TB's upper edge and force it to two lines, but why isn't the TB stream in Explorer remembering the height properly? Oddly, if I log out of the profile and log back in, the TB height is correct; it's when I shut down and re-start the O/S that the bug manifests. Wish there was a Registry object one could use to fix this...
