Here's why we want the Win10 usability EXACTLY like it used to be
There are many requests I see in this forum, like:
* can I have 3D borders back
* can I have the old start menu back
* can I get rid of apps that were designed for tablets
* etc
But those are all dancing around the main point - many of us want the OS looking EXACTLY LIKE IT USED TO.
We can deal with the real changes - MS will update Home versions however they want, whenever they want.
But why - in the name of love - can't we just have the INTERFACE customizable to the point where it can behave like it used to?
Smart people designed features like 3D borders. Was it because they were old and dumb and old dumb people like old dumb stuff? Um, no. It was because it helps the eye to train faster with less stress. This borderless monstrosity is harder on people's eyes, requiring more eye-focusing actions per unit work.
And while we're talking about work - an OS is about PRODUCTIVITY. So you know what - we need a QWERTY keyboard to remain a QWERTY keyboard. If they changed the keyboard layout every 2-3 years, it would grind productivity to a STANDSTILL - why do they not realize that the same is true for other interface aspects. You may change the software, but it is RIDICULOUS to change the interface all the time.
And you know what - that is the job of these guys. They teach this stuff in computer science, it's not hard. Usability, the purpose of software, why we design the way we design. This is freshman stuff.
