Here's why we want the Win10 usability EXACTLY like it used to be

That's a great idea! Having a single universal OS that works across all platforms similarly. I bet that's what MS is trying to do.

How did I not see this earlier?

Anyway, for the sake of conversation, MS got the message loud and clear when they released Windows 8 with its modern look and apps. However, they ran into a problem when it came to making Windows 10, many people (myself included) actually liked Windows 8/ 8.1. So, it would stupid to just make Windows 7 2.0 if there is significant number of people who like Windows 8/ 8.1.

To try to please as many people as possible, MS combined 7 and 8 while still keeping a new and different OS.

UI changes are of course going to get some hate at first, but once folks start playing around with the OS and using it more I'm sure they'll adapt.

Just like how they adapted to 7.

Windows 10 is still just as productive, if not more so than 7. If you aren't happy with the UI, guess what? You can install a third party application to make it look the way you want it to look. [emoji106]

Last I checked it was called Classic Shell, or you could install a theme/ skin. :)

Few poeple remember W98, but if they did they would be surprised what was available almost 17 years ago. Today we can't even set up font colors on windows captions/taskbar (the two are linked) without a third party app.

You've got a good point.

You know what would be nice is if MS could basically build Classic Shell into Windows 10. That way folks could change from Windows 10 UI, to 8, to 7, to XP, to just about any version of Windows MS would be willing to install. So, say when you go into appearance and personalization you could change your theme to which ever Windows UI you wanted.

That would be really cool and I imagine it wouldn't be to difficult.

Anyway, at the moment Windows doesn't do that. So I'm afraid the only way to get the UI one wants, one would have to either use a third party program or a go back to which ever release of Windows he preferred.

Start Menu replacements have been downloaded tens of million of times and they still don't want it.
Because they think of poeple as pieces of software: If we don't change our habits, WE will become obsolete. So we, humans, have to update ourself to liking the new UI, even if it's less efficient.
They wanted to tell us "No! You can't use your computer as you did before. You can't!". We must use Cloud, we must be cross platform (to buy more tablets, phablets and smartphones), we must like ribbons, we must like charms, we must go fully touch screen and swipe it even if you have a mouse in your hand, because that's the way they decided it will go.
Their policy was to change the user to adapt it to their business plan. Not to adapt their products to the users.
But they never expected such resistance from the user community. We rock! :)

And do you use 10?? If not.. just why are you here??

I only ask because you still have 8.1 listed as your OS.. so it's not that clear if you use it or not.

To be true resistance, and they know what your doing(otherwise, your resistance will be fruitless and not fruitful) make sure you let them have your metadata by uploading system information... oh yeah, let's just say, " let them spy on you"
