Add Backslash to when you copy path in File Explorer's Address Bar

Hi, I did a search here and in google and didn't find anything...

Due to me downloading a lot from my web browser, which I like to organize into untold numbers of folders, this has become quite an annoyance to me. When the download popup comes, I would paste the path in front of the filename, but unfortunately, with my keyboard, I sometimes wind up hitting enter instead of backslash.

Not sure if it matters, but I'm using Windows 10 version 22H2.

What I want is for the path address that I copy in File Explorer to include a backslash at the end.
    e.g. instead of "D:\- B2", I want it to be "D:\- B2"

Add Backslash to when you copy path in File Explorer's Address Bar-screenshot-2024-04-01-175422.jpg

If it helps (or hurts), I'm also using QTTabBar. Thanks.

Not sure why you want a terminal slash, unless your intention is to then type some text..?

I can offer you a tiny script which will add a \ to the clipboard content, and then paste that.

All you'd do is use a hotkey (e.g. CTRL K or whatever you like).

    Example:

    Here's some text

I select that, CTRL C as normal...
    Then hit CTRL K:

    Here's some text\

Sorry, could have sworn I did put a backslash at the end. Should be D:\- B2\ instead. Dunno what happened. Now, I can't seem to be able to edit the OP. Thanks.

EDIT: Nope, the issue is with this forum. For whatever inexplicable reason, it removed the trailing backslash when it's within quotes. D:\- B2\ "D:\- B2"

So the forum does the exact opposite of my problem.

Yes, as it shows above, I want to copy the path from File Explorer and then paste it in front of the filename in the browser's download "Save As" pop-up window.

I was hoping for a permanent solution, but yours seem like it could work, depending on what script you're talking about. I'm willing to try yours. Thanks, dalchina.

Yes, you'd have to wrap them in NoParse markers by selecting the text & clicking on that icon near the right-hand end of the editing toolbar that looks like a spreadsheet with a yellow warning triangle on it.
    "D:\- B2\"
You can also write them in manually.

Hi, attached is both the source code (.ahk) and the compiled version (.exe).

Simply double click the exe file- you will see the icon in the tray.

Then open, say, a text editor.

Select and CTRL C a word and check that's in the clipboard as usual (paste it back).
    Now hit CTRL K

You should see that word with a \ after it.

If you get a copy of Autohotkey and install it you can modify that.
You simply rt click the .ahk file, click Compile to compile it.

You don't need a copy of Autohotkey to run it.

Couldn't you just change the download location in your browser to D:\- B2\

You could remap the \ key to a different key. Do you have one you would like to use for that?

Thanks a lot. Been meaning to try out autohotkey, but I don't know why a popular app gets so many virus hits and isn't signed.

As I mentioned above, I download to untold number of folders because I like to organize my ebooks.

Sorry, I don't want to remap that key as I use the backslash fairly often when entering URLs, and it would just confuse me. Thanks though. Although, I do wish the Chrome browser wouldn't mess with the numpad (set to enter numbers) as I use a wireless numpad to control my winamp (and they work fine everywhere except when Chrome is in the foreground). Is there a reason why? I've downloaded and tried Chrome extensions to look into this, but there doesn't seem to be any shorcuts associated with the numpad.

    There's nothing wrong with Autohotkey.

When running the exe I provided you may find an AV program complains- Avast goes off and checks it- then says it's ok.

    Have you run that script?

If you fear something to do with viruses, there's nothing to fear with that. You can see the source code.
If you haven't because of that fear, then you are saying you don't trust answers given here.

If you don't want to use that and you don't wish to remap your key...

    - then get a different keyboard.
