They are all about "green" these days. The preferred option (from their viewpoint) is that the monitor actually be powered off and that no screensaver be used. See screenshot below from Windows 11:

    Haha
Windows Woke will save the planet by shutting down my screen, while my 1500 Watt supply keeps working

i find screensavers annoying lol, don't use em, just let the monitor switch off
I hate any device power off, screen, disk or whatever
First option I change on any laptop is to disable all power-off features. Laptops only work with chargers plugged in anyway, so. Never had a laptop that lasts 8+ hours, still waiting on it. Apparently Apple laptops can, but in corporate world (in Europe) nobody uses Mac. They're not on our list. 25+ Windows laptop models, 0 Macs.

I still run one screensaver on occasion. I had one screensaver in particular that I used to love but the author never updated the Windows version so it has not worked on Windows for years. It's a screensaver called "Word Clock" that displays the time in words. I got tired of hoping that the author might one day update it for Windows so I wrote my own version . It allows you to customize what is displayed, for example, the date, seconds, and an added digital clock can each be independently omitted, colors can be fully customized, etc.

    That's pretty unique

Most screensavers used flash, but since flash was removed from Windows, it is hard to find any working ones.
I had to think about it, but now I get it ... Flash, the graphical engine software thingy in which viruses were hidden.
